Kevin Porter Jr also known by his full name Bryan Kevin Porter Jr was born on 4th May, 2000 in Seattle, United States of America. He made his debut for USC on 6th November 2018.
There, he showed his skills by scoring 15 points off the bench, shooting 6-of-7 from the field, adding to USC’s 83–62 victory over Robert Morris.
His early college basketball playing faced challenges on November 20 when he reportedly suffered a quadriceps contusion while playing against Missouri State.
Despite his injury, he made a definitive comeback in December against Nevada. However, after just four minutes of play into the game, it became the injury was still affecting his performance. He missed nine games while recovering.
The player’s determination shone when he was ready to play on 10th January 2019. He contributed five points in just 25 minutes. Unluckily for him, his career took another unexpected turn just three days later when he was suspended indefinitely by USC due to personal conduct issues.
Despite that, he remained available and ready for his team and participated in the final three games of the season.
In his freshman season, he showed his versatility, averaging 9.8 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 22 minutes in a single game. This made him appear in 21 of USC’s 33 games.
At the end of his freshman season, he decided to forgo the rest of his collegiate eligibility and declared himself eligible for the 2019 NBA draft, embarking on a new chapter in his basketball career.
During a game on 1st January 2022 against the Denver Nuggets, he was seen exchanging words with Christian Wood, his teammate, and his assistant coach of Rockets, John Lucas.
After that heated verbal bout, John Lucas suspended both Kevin Porter Jr. and Christian Wood for one game each. This decision was made on 3rd January.
However, Kevin’s career with the Rockets had its share of great and iconic times. On 31st March 2022, he achieved a milestone by recording his first triple-double, showing his versatility with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists, despite the Rockets’ 121–118 loss to the Sacramento Kings.
Straight to 17th October 2022, he reportedly signed a juicy 4-year contract extension with the team that was worth $82.5 million approximately.
He went on to make an impact, securing his second triple-double on March 23, 2023, with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, even though the Rockets faced a 130–125 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
