Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., a prominent American environmental lawyer and author, is known for his work with non-profit environmental groups such as Waterkeeper Alliance and the Natural Resources Defense Council. He has served as the president of the board for Waterkeeper Alliance and worked as a senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council for over three decades.

In addition to his legal and environmental advocacy work, Kennedy has also been a professor of environmental law at Pace University School of Law for over 30 years. However, Kennedy has faced criticism for promoting anti-vaccine propaganda, conspiracy theories, and misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines.

He founded the anti-vaccine propaganda group Children’s Health Defense and has been a proponent of the scientifically discredited link between vaccines and autism since 2005. On April 5, 2023, Kennedy announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election as a Democrat.

Robert Kennedy Jr. was diagnosed with spasmodic dysphonia, a neurological condition that affects a person’s speech or voice, in 2008. This rare condition causes his voice to tremble, making it challenging for him to speak, and voice therapy is the only known way to improve the chances of recovery. Although the condition is believed to be permanent, it can be brief, and doctors are still conducting research on the subject. Women are more prone than men to develop the condition, which is also known as laryngeal dystonia.

Kennedy has stated that the condition does not bother him, although he does need to speak with more effort. Aside from spasmodic dysphonia, no other health issues have been documented for Kennedy Jr. However, three of his children suffer from bronchial asthma. Despite these health challenges, Kennedy remains active in his work and is receiving therapy to manage his condition, with the hope of overcoming it in the future.
